Children do not come with instructions; if they did life would be easier for us as parents. You and I have probably made mistakes in life and probably will make

more. Children will watch our actions and act them out at times.

The Stop Sign Effect is about a simple thought I came up with one day while talking with a 4th grade class on making the right choices. I asked the class to

simply think of a stop sign and asked if your parents stop at them and why.

Accidents occur; people get hurt, they get tickets from the law. It’s the law like a rule.

The Stop Sign Effect works like a stop sign, You STOP and think. Someone is harassing you or you are about to

harass someone stop and think! Would it be worth it to go to the principal’s office? Would it be worth a

suspension from school? Stop and try to follow the school rules.

Bad language, stealing, lying, disrespectfulness, unruliness and more, it can go on with numerous issues that can

lead your child into the principal’s office or in some cases a juvenile case started against him or her in court.

The Stop Sign Effect is written in Elementary level 12 page water colored format. It’s simple to talk about on

choosing the right and wrong direction to go when faced with a decision or making a choice.

I believe if we help the Elementary Level now, we can stop them from having problems in middle and high

school. Let’s educate them now, and not when they are faced with a police record or alternative school.
